Career Development Coaching
Finding Meaning and Purpose in Work
Many people struggle navigating the often stressful landscape of professional life. Working long hours at a blistering pace can leave people feeling exhausted, depleted, and burnout. They can easily lose any sense of meaning, purpose or direction in their work.
ADAPT Career Coaching was developed by Dr. Steven Wendell at the University of Pittsburgh. Together with Dr. Wendell, I teach a career development course for academic scientists through the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. The primary goal of this course is to help students, trainees, and Fellows to develop Career Adaptability through career exploration, career planning and goal setting, interviewing, career transitions, and other related topics. Importantly, the course incorporated the development of reflective inquiry and mindfulness.
In addition to teaching, I serve as a career development coaching for trainees, Fellows, and Faculty in a number of different programs including the Physician Scientist Training Program, the Medical Scientist Training Program, the Physician Scientist Incubator, and the Institute for Clinical Research Education.
If you find yourself feeling stuck in your job or role and are looking to find a clear path forward, career coaching might be a way of finding that path.
